We are delighted to share the results of our recent Ofsted inspection with you. As many of you know, Ofsted has recently moved away from single-word overall judgements (like “Good” or “Outstanding”) to a more detailed Report Card system.

This new format is designed to give you a clearer, more nuanced picture of what life is like for your child at our setting. We are incredibly proud of the feedback we received, which reflects the hard work of our staff and the wonderful engagement of our children.

The new grading scale ranges from Urgent Improvement to Exceptional. We are thrilled to have secured Strong and Expected standards across all inspected areas:

The full report is now available for you to read below, but we would like to highlight some of the wonderful feedback we received. The inspector found that Olive Tree Preschool continues to provide a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for your children.

Highlights from the Report

We are proud to have achieved a "Strong Standard" in several key areas, including:

Behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines: Noted for our calm, positive environment and the support we give children in managing their emotions.

Children’s welfare and well being: Highlighting our effective "key person" system and nurturing care.

Inclusion: Recognising our robust systems for supporting children’s individual development and diverse needs.

Additionally, we met the Expected Standard for Achievement, Curriculum and Teaching, and Leadership. We were also pleased to be confirmed as fully meeting all Safeguarding standards.

The inspector, spent a significant amount of time observing the children and speaking with our team. Here are some of the key takeaways from her visit:

A Nurturing Environment: The report highlights our “calm and positive environment” where children feel safe, valued, and secure. It was noted that staff build “warm and respectful relationships,” helping even our youngest children feel confident in their routines.

Support for Wellbeing: We were praised for our “strong standard” in welfare, particularly the way our key person system allows staff to respond sensitively to individual needs, from weaning and sleeping routines to emotional regulation.

Commitment to Inclusion: The inspector noted our “robust systems” for identifying and reviewing children’s development, ensuring that children with SEND and those from disadvantaged backgrounds receive the targeted intervention they need to thrive.

Curious Learners: It was wonderful to see the inspector acknowledge how excited our children are to learn—whether they are babies developing physical coordination or older children exploring the natural world in our forest area with “twigs and leaves.”
